Smart Home Integration
Information about PlumBuddy's smart home compatibility including Home Assistant, Alexa, and future integration plans.
Does PlumBuddy Work with Home Assistant?
PlumBuddy does not currently offer a native Home Assistant integration. We know this is a highly requested feature and it is something we are actively evaluating. PlumBuddy was designed with an API-first architecture, which positions us well for third-party integrations in the future.
We will notify our customers when public integrations become available. Keep an eye on the PlumBuddy app and our website for announcements about new platform support.
Does PlumBuddy Work with Alexa?
A native Alexa integration is not currently available. PlumBuddy operates through its own dedicated mobile app for controlling valves, managing sensors, and receiving alerts. We are aware of customer interest in voice assistant support and are exploring options for the future.
Does PlumBuddy Support Apple HomeKit or Matter?
We are always evaluating new integration opportunities to make PlumBuddy work seamlessly with popular smart home platforms. While we cannot share specific timeline details about Apple HomeKit or Matter support at this time, these are on our roadmap and we will share updates as they become available.
Can I Use Third-Party Flood Sensors with PlumBuddy?
PlumBuddy currently works with PlumAssist, our own WiFi leak detection puck. PlumAssist pucks pair directly with the PlumBuddy Valve to trigger automatic shutoff when water is detected. PlumSense extension cables can be added to PlumAssist pucks for expanded coverage.
Third-party flood sensors from brands like Ring, SimpliSafe, or Samsung SmartThings cannot currently trigger PlumBuddy valve actions. For automatic shutoff protection, PlumAssist pucks are required.
Does PlumBuddy Have an API?
PlumBuddy was designed with an API-first architecture. However, a public API for third-party developers is not yet available. We understand that many technically-minded homeowners and home automation enthusiasts want to integrate PlumBuddy into their existing setups.
When public API access becomes available, we will provide documentation and notify our customers. If you are a developer or integrator interested in early access, contact our team to express interest.
Can PlumBuddy Connect to My Building Management System?
For commercial properties with building management systems (BMS), PlumBuddy offers the PlumPortal platform for centralized monitoring of multiple valves and sensors. For questions about BMS integration, enterprise API access, or custom commercial deployments, contact our sales team.
What Smart Home Features Does PlumBuddy Currently Support?
While third-party smart home integrations are still in development, the PlumBuddy app provides robust smart features on its own:
- Remote control: Open or close your valve from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Automatic shutoff: The valve closes automatically when a leak is detected, no app interaction needed.
- Push notifications: Instant alerts for leaks, valve changes, device status, and low battery.
- Multi-user access: Share access with family members or property managers.
- Water usage tracking: Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly consumption charts.
- Custom modes and presets: Configure different protection levels for different situations.
- Device pairing: Link PlumAssist pucks to valves for location-specific automatic shutoff.
Will I Be Notified When New Integrations Launch?
Yes. When new integrations and platform support become available, we will notify users through the PlumBuddy app and our website. We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to expand our platform compatibility while maintaining the reliability and security that our customers depend on.
